Sugar FREE-DOM!
Soooooo, for those of you who don’t know me, I am a HUGE sugar addict. And...not that there is anything wrong with having a sweet tooth, but I literally think about cookies ALL...DAY...LONG... Even if I just ate and feel super content in my tum tum, my tastebuds crave something sweet. Does anyone else out there feel like they just don’t stop thinking about sugar? Ever? Because personally, my tongue just needs it. I literally feel like my body needs it. I have some theories as to why...either it being Candida, a fungus that grows in your digestive tract and feeds off sugar, or I am not providing my body with enough complex carbs to fuel it properly, so in return my body craves sugar, or, lastly....I have just fallen victim to the cocaine similar properties of this nasty little beast we all love so very much....sugar.
I currently have a personal goal of leaning out some, (mind you, the number on the scale does not matter, but rather, I want to be able to see some of all those awesome muscles I’ve been working my booty off for) and eating cookies and chocolate on the daily makes that one a little tricky. Plus, I’m no nutritionist, but I can’t imagine eating 2-3 good sized cookies every day is really all that great for you.
So, on Sunday November 12th, I started a “sugar cleanse”. (Side note: I really hate calling it a “cleanse” because it sounds so intense and I really don’t do “cleanses” that often. But I guess every now and then, it’s not a bad thing to do for the bod.) Anyways, the goal is to cut out all added sugars, fruit sugars, and artificial sweeteners for 7 days straight, while cleaning out the gut with some “special little capsules” I will tell you about later on, and then replenishing my gut with healthy probiotics following day 7.
Let me tell you, day one was the HARDEST! I normally put cinnamon liquid stevia in my coffee with my cream to give it that little boost of sweet I love so much. I’ll sip on my coffee throughout the morning while at work and always enjoy the yummy flavor with my little bit of sweetness. Well, since I am even cutting out artificial sweeteners...my mind and body was going a bit nuts without the liquid stevia deliciousness. By mid-day, cookies were calling my name, and by the evening, cheesecake for dessert sounded so much more appealing than rice cakes. But somehow I made it through the day sans sugar. PHEW!
By day two, my cravings had already gone down a lot, and I began adding DoTerra Slim & Sassy oil to my water to help kick those sugar urges down. In addition, I was using my “special little capsules” as noted above: DoTerra GX Assist capsules (taken once with each meal).
Day 3 and 4, and the urges have gone way down. I am continuing to follow the same regimen and we will see what I feel like come day 7. Check back after Sunday November19th to see some before and after pics of my results and hear about whether or not my sugar cleanse was deemed successful.
Love always,
Emma
